Singers interested in joining the roster of and performing with the award-winning Chorosynthesis Singers should possess extensive solo and ensemble experience, excellent musicianship skills, familiarity with early and contemporary vocal styles, and a desire to sing at the highest level of vocal ensemble performance. They should also possess the highest of professionalism in preparation, rehearsal etiquette, and concert performance. Of utmost importance is resonating with the mission of Chorosynthesis, a love for new music, and a passion for using art to raise social consciousness.
Chorosynthesis invites singers to its roster upon a successful audition. Typically, Chorosynthesis will then contract singers from that roster on a per-project basis. Programs vary vastly from project to project, and singers also vary dependent repertoire and geography. Chorosynthesis not only pays it singers, but also provides a new model for performing with a professional ensemble with two co-artistic directors and the unique application of its four pillar values: innovation, sustainability, collaboration, and excellence. More specifically, Chorosynthesis Singers typically contracts singers for a week-long project and usually covers meals between rehearsals or before performances when applicable; exceptions to this ideal are spelled out in the agreement when a singer is offered the gig. We are estimating that our June performer fee will be approximately $650 and our September performer fee will be approximately $940/singer. We can be flexible as to how that payment is made (travel, lodging, performer fee, etc.).
Singers who are auditioning should become familiar with our past projects and performances, as well as with our community engagement projects and reading sessions via our website and social media. (To see past projects, please see the “events” in the navigation bar. You can listen to our recently released album, Empowering Silenced Voices here.) We also expect our roster to engage with our social media, emails, and other marketing tools in good faith with our mission and vision.
Interested singers should be prepared to submit the following when filling out the Audition Form (see below):
A current professional resume or curriculum vitae. Alternatively, you may fill out the Auditonee Information Form in Word, save it as a PDF, and attach it below.
One photo or headshot (optional initially).
Two references including phone numbers and email addresses.
Web links to unedited audio-visual and/or audio performance recordings of 2-3 solo vocal works (chamber or choral works in which you perform as a soloist or one on a part is acceptable) in contrasting styles and languages, one of which should be early music and another of which should be contemporary. Note: Videos or sound files to which the web links point should be labeled (in the title or notes section of the online video or sound file) with the musician’s full name and voice part.

Prospective Chorosynthesis Singers auditionees are requested to submit at least two online performance recordings but may submit up to three. Prospective auditionees should also include a headshot (if you are able), contact information for two references, and a current CV/Professional Resume/Auditionee Information Form.
